Barossa Valley Dental Implants

Taking care of your teeth is more than just about maintaining good oral health. A healthy set of teeth also increases your self-confidence. One of the most rewarding pleasures in life is the ability to smile confidently. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there who feel self-conscious due to some missing teeth. However, thanks to great strides in dentistry, dental implants can help fix this problem.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is the same thing as a “tooth replacement”. And the element that makes this procedure so effective is the artificial root, which gets placed underneath the gumline. Over the course of several weeks, the artificial root fuses with the jaw bone. This serves as a foundation for the crown that is used in place of the missing tooth.

Implants are composed of three sections. The first is the titanium screw (artificial root). The second step involves a small metal post that is only partially placed inside the screw. After the root has fused properly and the metal post is stable, a crown can be inserted on top.

Common Types Of Implant Options

Not every dentist in the Barossa Valley region will use the exact same approach. This is because the overall dental implant procedure has developed over time. To give you some perspective on what to expect, there are two common options that exist.

The first is a single implant, which is used to fill individual gaps between teeth. The second option is referred to as an implant-supported bridge. In this case, an entire row of teeth gets placed utilising both bridge and implant technology/procedures.

Reasons To Consider Implants

While it takes a number of months to complete the dental implant process, there are several good reasons to consider this option. Here are some examples:

Functionality:

Even though dentures can replace missing teeth, they are not the best choice if you value functionality above all else. For instance, you have to be extra careful when eating with dentures. Implants, on the other hand, allow you to enjoy your food as if you have your own teeth.

Permanent:

Once an implant is in place, it stays there. This means you can go to sleep without any worries, and you don’t have to take them out for cleaning purposes. More importantly, there are no return visits to resize the implants, which is the case with dentures.

Natural:

Another reason people prefer implants is because of how natural they look. At no point will anyone be able to tell the difference between your real teeth and the implants.
