Barossa Valley Dental Root Canal Treatment

The thought of having a tooth extracted is a usual cause for concern among most people.

However, there aren’t many other options if you want to strengthen or save a tooth that is ridden with decay. That is where root canal treatment comes into the equation.

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is a dental procedure performed to save teeth that are affected by deep decay, chips, trauma to the teeth or cracks. Root canal treatment is an excellent way of saving teeth that would otherwise have been extracted.

At Barossa Valley Dental, we have performed countless root canals, and with our experience, skills, and gentle approach, you can rest assured your root canal procedure will be as comfortable and pain-free as possible.

Our professional dental team will ensure that your root canal treatment will help you to get your oral health and smile back on track. We also offer same-day emergency dental care services should an emergency situation arise.

Barossa Valley Root Canal Treatment Process

At the centre of a tooth, there is pulp which a collection of blood vessels, connective tissue and nerves that helps in both the formation and nutrition of the dentin. When the pulp is infected and filled with a cavity, it can cause severe tooth pain and other symptoms like we have listed above. Unfortunately, an infected pulp cannot heal itself and requires root canal treatment in order to be treated properly.

During a root canal, a local anaesthesia or sedative is used to numb the affected area in order to make the experience much more comfortable for the patient. The dentist will then proceed with the removal of the infected pulp.

From there, the root canal system is cleaned and sealed. Once that step is complete, the patient’s tooth is restored with a temporary filling, which can be replaced later with a permanent filling or crown to maintain your tooth’s natural appearance, function, and strength. This may require 2-3 more visits to finish the treatment, but most of our treatments are completed in one visit.
